Does my coverage end after 60 days?
For most members enrolled in full BadgerCare Plus as a pregnant person, the postpartum period is now 12 months. Check your own coverage letter with your benefits office or a navigator.
Do I need to apply again after having my baby?
If you already have full BadgerCare Plus pregnancy coverage, make sure your benefits office knows the pregnancy ended. Ask whether it needs anything else. If you do not have coverage, a navigator can help you apply and check whether past months can be covered.
What if I did not report my pregnancy before it ended?
Tell your benefits office now. You may still qualify if you were enrolled for the month your pregnancy ended. A navigator can help you check your enrollment history and next steps.
What if I only had the Prenatal Program or Express Enrollment?
Those programs do not automatically qualify you for the 12 month postpartum extension. Do not assume you have no options. A navigator can help you check other coverage and apply for full benefits if you qualify.
Does the coverage only pay for pregnancy care?
No. Eligible members keep full coverage for covered Medicaid services, including care unrelated to pregnancy. Your health plan can explain covered services and providers.
Can I ask for mental health support?
Yes. Ask your health plan or care team about covered mental health services and how to connect with a provider. A navigator can help with coverage questions.
What if my pregnancy ended in a loss?
You still deserve care and support. The postpartum coverage period applies after a pregnancy ends, regardless of how it ends, if you meet the coverage rules. A navigator can help you check your coverage.
Is my baby covered too?
Your baby’s coverage needs to be checked separately. Report the birth to the office that manages your benefits and ask it to confirm your baby’s enrollment. A navigator can help you with the next step.
What if a letter says my coverage already ended?
Contact your benefits office or a navigator. Some people whose coverage ended under the older 60 day rule may need to ask for it to be restored. Bring the letter and any coverage dates you have.
What happens after the 12 months?
Read your notices before the postpartum period ends. Your benefits office will review whether you qualify for ongoing coverage. A navigator can help you explore options and avoid missing an application or renewal deadline.
Do the new work requirements apply after pregnancy?
Wisconsin DHS says people who are pregnant or within 12 months after a pregnancy do not have to meet the work requirement. Other reasons may apply after that period. See the work requirements guide.
Where can I get free help?
Work directly with a Covering Wisconsin navigator. Find an appointment or call 877 942 6837. You do not need to have all the answers before you call.
